Lovely studio decorated in island style. Everything you could require in kitchenware. Comfy bed. Frangipanni tree to look at from small outside lanai. Across the road from beach and Hawaiian fish pond. Easy access to whole island.

Im Vergleich zu den üblichen Übernachtungskosten auf Maui war ich anfangs etwas skeptisch gegenüber der verhältnismäßig günstigen Unterkunft.

Aber ich wurde äußerst positiv überrascht. Das Condo war sehr sauber und wir wurden herzlich empfangen. Die Ausstattung war sehr gut und wie in der Anzeige beschrieben. Auch das Schrankbett war sehr gemütlich. Die Lage in Kihei zur Erkundung der Insel ist fantastisch.

Der Kontakt mit Darilyn lief im Vorfeld etwas schleppend, während unseres Aufenthaltes war sie dann aber sehr bemüht.

Die Kaution wurde nach einmaliger Rückfrage per Mail anstandslos zurücküberwiesen.

Sollte Maui noch einmal unseren Weg kreuzen, dann bestimmt wieder diese Unterkunft im Kihei Bay Surf!

I enjoyed my Ohana visit to Maui due to many factors. Preparation is always three fold for me: securing a flight with Alaska Airlines, securing lodging and car. When all three are in order I can continue to prepare my visit and focus on enjoying the aloha spirit. I rented with Hertz which provided a decent car at a decent rate. I had no trouble with the car which is a blessing. Car problems can cause havoc with a vacation. My lodging was a fully furnished studio in Kihei. It’s all about location. The rental was located across from the Kihei Whale Museum. On my first morning after arrival, I walked across the street and headed for the beach just around sunrise. Sunrise approaches behind the dormant volcano Haleakala. Spectacular sunsets face the Kihei horizon. I am always in quest of the elusive Giant Green Sea Turtles which I enjoy while snorkeling. I know they tend to beach themselves at sunset and disappear into the ocean after sunrise. I was not disappointed and found three adult turtles on the beach in front of the museum pond. I enjoyed a whale watch cruise with Pacific Co…got to see a dozen breaching whales. I have specific, yet simple, lodging requirements: clean, quiet, safe…and, thankfully, no bugs. I was not disappointed with my rental, though on a few occasions the renter above me was noisy. I fixed that with ear plugs. The rental was a small studio with combined living room/bedroom (Murphy bed), small kitchenette and separate bath, free parking in front. TV had modified cable channels, wifi and phone were available. The pool and Jacuzzi were closed for maintenance a few days. Once available, it was a pleasure to soak in the Jacuzzi under night skies after a day at the beach. A bbq is available for use. Being vegetarian, I bought most food items at Moon’s Nature store and other local markets, lots of fresh fruits available…and cooked meals in except for one dinner at Antonio’s Italian restaurant. Be sure to hear Anthony Pfluke when he’s performing traditional Hawaiian music at Nalu’s restaurant. The rental owner, Darilyn, was readily available by phone and email for inquiries. Her local rental assistant, Shannon, was very helpful. Winter weather conditions are typical…warm/dry in Kihei, rainstorms in Kahului…with huge surf. The Triple Crown on Oahu was cancelled due to dangerous conditions: 30 foot waves. It’s all part of the aloha spirit of the islands. Mahalo…

Darilyn’s condo was perfect for our Maui vacation! The condo is an a small complex. It was quiet and had a great pool where we enjoyed lounging. The condo was clean, bed was comfortable and the shower had great pressure. It had everything we needed from kitchen supplies to beach chairs, beach towels and a cooler.

It’s located right across the street from the Humpback Whale Sanctuary and a small beach park so we could walk across the street for sunset and access the beach to go for a walk. It’s only a short drive south to reach the grocery stores, shops, restaurants and great beaches in Kihei.

Darilyn was great to work with, as was her property manager. We enjoyed our stay very much!

This was our 3rd year at Kihei Bay Surf, and our first year in this unit. We enjoyed our stay immensely… the condo was clean, comfortable, quiet, and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, and more! Darilyn was great to deal with – prompt and professional. And if (when) we go back, we will be crossing our fingers that this unit is available.

Great getaway apartment

This was a great place to stay during our Maui vacation. The apartment came with everything we needed, including a well stocked kitchen. We took advantage of some of the essentials the numerous previous guests have left behind (bug spray, sunscreen, etc) and left some of our own too (since we couldn’t take it on a plane). We especially loved the beach chairs and umbrella, which made it easy to go to any beach on the island (all the beaches are open to the public) and just set up a portable paradise. As for beaches, well, there’s a great one across the street, which is a favorite hang-out spot for a couple of green turtles. Otherwise, the apartment is well within range of anything else on the island.

The owner and on-island manager were very responsive and were available for any of our needs (which fortunately were few). We will definitely keep this place in mind next time we visit the island!

Quiet, cool, and clean!

This was a great place to stay! It was quiet and cool even during a heatwave! We seldom even needed the A/C. No street noise! (can be a problem in other units in this complex.) Parking was usually right outside the door even though not assigned parking. A great unit for getting a good nights sleep! well equipped and comfortable. great communication with the owner and on island rep! There were only two of us and it might be tight with 4 as any studio would be, but very easy living and once you are out the door why pay for a bigger place?.

The REAL story…. we own a unit in this complex but couldn’t stay there because of a scheduling conflict. WE LIKE THIS UNIT LOCATION BETTER THAN OUR OWN!!!! Great value in a studio! Bus stop and cross walk right in front of the complex.

What can I say but this is the best value in Maui!!!. The condo lacks nothing with beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels. The complex itself is right across the street from a beach and a park. Very quiet. The bed was comfortable and the owner was easy to work with and was excellent with communicating all that is required. I’ve stayed everywhere on Maui, and this by far was the best.
